The Dangers of Census Enumeration in 1930

While doing some client research a couple of weeks ago, I came across this newspaper article from the 5 Apr 1930 Cleveland Press (p.1). Some say the government is going to the dogs, but in this case the dog went to the government:

ENUMERATOR BITTEN

Woman Census Taker Is Attacked by Bulldog

A pet bulldog who objected to the presence of one of Uncle Sam’s census enumnerators bit Mrs. Olga Shank, 41, when she approached a house at 3115 W. 47th street. Mrs. Shank, the enumerator, who lives at 3194 W 88th street, was treated for a wound on the foot. Dog catchers will examine the bulldog.
