This was posted on Dick Eastman’s blog today. Northumberland is looking to move their records currently held in “The Dungeon” to a more climatically suitable and accessible location in the current City Hall. “The Dungeon” is the basement of the courthouse, and basically nothing more than several fruit cellars with a dehumidifier and a copy machine!
I was there for the first time last summer, and this would be a great improvement. While it was certainly a memorable experience finding my way around down there, and I got plenty of exercise, as the indexes were upstairs and the records downstairs, it would be awesome to have everything all together and stored properly. Let’s hope it happens.
