It’s Almost Ohio Genealogical Society Conference Time!

Maybe it’s just because I want March to be over with so we can get on with spring, but I’m thinking OGS 2011 will be here before I can wonder where the snow went. Okay, maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Speaking of thinking, I’m thinking these are likely the programs I will be attending (be sure to download the full OGS Conference brochure). Of course, I always end up changing my mind at least once during the conference, so who knows:

Thursday March 31:

2-4 pm: (T-3) Advanced Genealogical Discussion

Friday April 1:

10-11 am: (F-5) Researching Your Colonial War Ancestor, Craig R. Scott

1-2 pm: (F-13) Beyond Localities: Using Maps, Gazetteers and Atlases, Michael J. Leclerc

2:30-3:30 pm: (F-20) The National Road: America’s First Interstate Highway, Lauren K. Landis

4-5 pm: (F-25) Lord Dunmore’s War: How an Obscure War Impacted Early Ohio Settlement, Tacy A. Shoemaker Lewis

5:30pm – ? APG Great Lakes Chapter meeting

7-9 pm: (F-29) Society of Civil War Families of Ohio Banquet (thanks to Dr. A.A. Staats and Archelaus Osborne for their service…and also  for having the child that had a child that had a child that eventually led to me. Thanks guys!)

Saturday April 2:

8-9 am: (S-4) Hiding in Plain Sight: Scotch Settlement, Columbiana County, Amanda E. Epperson

9:15-10:15 am: (S-7)  The U.S. Federal Government: Underutilized
Research Resources, Paula Stuart-Warren

10:45-11:45am: (S-18) Railroad Records and Railroad History: Methods for Tracking, Paula Stuart-Warren

2:30-3:30pm: (S-25) Pennsylvania’s Land Records: An Indispensable Resource for Genealogists, John T. Humphrey

4-5 pm: (S-31) Circuit Riders and the Early Methodist Church, J. Mark Lowe

So that’s the plan. Will I see you there?

  1. Hi Chris, I think you’ve made some excellent choices, especially on Saturday morning! :) Haven’t decided what sessions I’ll go to, but there is plenty of time. See you in Columbus. Amanda
